CRITICAL VULNERABILITIES & EXPOSURES

Real-world risks this policy is engineered to solve.

Commercial and personal risks rarely follow idealized assumptions. These are the critical financial pitfalls, claim traps, and operational vulnerabilities that proper policy structuring actively mitigates.

High-Impact Vulnerability01

In-Progress Structural Collapse During Concrete Pouring

Formwork failure during mass concrete pours or sudden foundation settling in uncompacted excavation zones.

Impact: Catastrophic material loss, safety injunctions, structural re-engineering, and contract milestone liquidated damages.
Policy Solution: Contractual All Risks (CAR) covering material damage, debris removal, surrounding property, and testing period extensions.
High-Impact Vulnerability02

Monsoon Washout & Excavation Trench Cave-in

Sudden monsoon cloudbursts flooding foundation trenches, collapsing retaining walls, and washing away rebar and aggregate stocks.

Impact: Severe site reconstruction costs, prolonged project shutdowns, and dispute with client over force majeure timelines.
Policy Solution: Storm, Tempest, Flood & Inundation (STFI) cover tailored to civil projects with low deductible thresholds.
High-Impact Vulnerability03

Third-Party Structural Vibration Damage & Lawsuits

Deep foundation piling, sheet piling, or heavy compaction vibrations causing cracking in adjacent commercial or residential buildings.

Impact: Third-party civil compensation lawsuits, municipal stop-work orders, and costly court injunctions.
Policy Solution: High-limit Third-Party Liability (TPL) extension attached directly to the project's CAR policy.
UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS

Protection begins with the right questions.

These are discussion points, not a promise that every risk is covered. Final cover depends on policy wording and insurer acceptance.

01

Material damage

Protection for civil works, permanent & temporary structures against fire, storm, flood, and collapse

02

Third-Party Liability (TPL)

Bodily injury and surrounding third-party property damage caused during construction

03

Surrounding property & existing structures cover

Protection for adjacent buildings and utilities

04

Maintenance period cover

Extended coverage during the defects liability period (DLP)

WHO IT MAY SUIT

Built around your real-world exposure.

The right structure starts with understanding your assets, operations, people and contractual responsibilities.

Civil engineering contractors and general construction firms
Real estate developers constructing commercial complexes and residential townships
Public infrastructure concessionaires building highways, flyovers, and drainage networks
Subcontractors and project managers responsible for civil structural works
BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

Details that make a difference.

Compare more than price. Review limits, deductibles, exclusions and policy conditions.

01

Accurate project estimated contract value (ECV) including materials, labor, and design fees

02

Soil testing, flood inundation history, and site topography risk evaluation

03

Adequacy of Third-Party Liability limits and surrounding property sub-limits

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

Need more clarity? Send us your requirement and our team can help explore the next step.

Ask our team
What does Contractual All Risk (CAR) insurance cover?

CAR insurance covers civil engineering works during construction against almost all accidental physical damage, including fire, storm, collapse, earth movement, and third-party liabilities, subject to standard exclusions.

Does CAR cover subcontractors working on site?

Yes. Standard CAR policies can be structured to cover the principal owner, main contractor, and all registered subcontractors under a single unified policy.

What is the Maintenance Period extension in CAR?

It extends coverage for 12 to 24 months post-completion during the Defects Liability Period (DLP), covering damage arising during rectification works.
