CRITICAL VULNERABILITIES & EXPOSURES

Real-world risks this policy is engineered to solve.

Commercial and personal risks rarely follow idealized assumptions. These are the critical financial pitfalls, claim traps, and operational vulnerabilities that proper policy structuring actively mitigates.

High-Impact Vulnerability01

The Room Rent Capping and Proportional Deduction Trap

Selecting a policy with a 1% sum insured room rent cap and being admitted to a single private room during treatment.

Impact: Insurers proportionally penalize the entire bill—including surgeon charges, ICU, and OT fees—leaving a 30% to 50% out-of-pocket shortfall.
Policy Solution: Secure plans with No Room Rent Capping or Single Private Room eligibility endorsements.
High-Impact Vulnerability02

Pre-Existing Disease (PED) Non-Disclosure Repudiation

Failing to disclose historic hypertension, thyroid disorders, or diabetes during policy proposal.

Impact: Under Section 45 of IRDAI regulations, insurers can legally repudiate genuine hospitalization claims and forfeit premium.
Policy Solution: Transparent upfront disclosure assisted by Gitvisha medical underwriting review and waiting period credit tracking.
High-Impact Vulnerability03

Non-Medical Consumables and Hospital Surcharges

Surgeries where disposable items (gloves, PPE kits, surgical tapes, syringes, cotton) are billed as non-admissible items.

Impact: Standard mediclaim excludes non-medical consumables, causing Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,00,000+ unexpected personal expense.
Policy Solution: Attach a Consumables Cover rider that pays all IRDAI List-1 non-medical consumables in full.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

Need more clarity? Send us your requirement and our team can help explore the next step.

Ask our team
Why do I need personal health insurance if I already have corporate cover?

Employer group policies end immediately upon job switch, layoff, or retirement. Corporate sum insured is often low with room rent caps. Personal health insurance ensures lifelong continuity and builds accumulated No Claim Bonus (NCB).

What is the difference between Cashless and Reimbursement claims?

In a Cashless claim at a network hospital, the insurer/TPA settles admissible medical bills directly with the hospital. In a Reimbursement claim, you settle bills upon discharge and submit original records for reimbursement.

What tax deductions are available under Section 80D?

You can claim tax deductions up to Rs 25,000 for self, spouse, and children (or Rs 50,000 if senior citizen), plus up to Rs 50,000 for senior citizen parents, totaling up to Rs 1,00,000 per financial year.
